Residents seek meeting with Urban Renewal Agency board![]() NAMPA -- Members of the North Nampa Residents Association discussed neighborhood traffic patterns and their discontent with the North Nampa Urban Renewal Agency at their Tuesday meeting. Public Works Director Paul Raymond presented plans to install six new stoplights, equipped with pedestrian signals and crosswalks in north Nampa. Residents huddled around Raymond's plans as he mapped out traffic flow in the area and how potential dangers will be avoided with the new lights which will be placed where 11th Avenue meets Garrity Boulevard and Franklin Boulevard. The lights are slated to be installed by mid-2000, Raymond said. |
The association then talked about the North Nampa Urban Renewal Agency. They
said their tax dollars should not be used for the Idaho Center, which is used
by the entire valley, but instead should revitalize the neighborhoods in north
Nampa. It's time we went to urban renewal and asked them what we are spending our money on, north Nampa property owner Shirley Dean said. Budget figures show that most of the tax revenue in the Urban Renewal District's first few years went to the Idaho Center, but the proposed budget for 1999-2000 is almost evenly split between arena expenditures and other projects. About $1.5 million is slated for road and traffic, water and sewer and parks and recreation improvements, Nampa Community Development Specialist Sabrina Bowman said. Residents said they want to meet with the Urban Renewal Agency board to find out more about the agency's budget and priorities, Dean said. |
